Aim: Propose new metrics of impulsiveness of manual chest compressions (CCs) that account for shape and duration, separate the characteristics of the compressive part of the CC cycle from those of the recoil part, and are uncorrelated to CC depth and rate. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of adult out-of-hospital cardiac arrest monitor-defibrillator recordings having CPR data. Specifically, episodes of adult patients with ≥ 1000 compressions free of leaning were examined. CCs were obtained from the depth signal of the valid episodes, and we calculated the novel metrics: compression area index (CAI), recoil area index (RAI), compression impulsiveness index (CII) and recoil impulsiveness index (RII). Generalized linear mixed-effects models and Jonckheere-Terpstra trend analyses were employed to measure differences between populations and trends, and the absolute value of Pearson's correlation coefficient |r| was used to report dependence between variables. Statistics are reported as median and interquartile range. Results: We analyzed 982,340 CCs corresponding to 453 episodes, for which we calculated their CAI, RAI and duty cycle (DC). We analyzed the metrics for various populations: age, sex, any ROSC achieved and disposition, and found that CAI was significantly different according to patient disposition and RAI relative to age and sex (p<0.05). None of the metrics was correlated strongly to depth or rate (|r| values of 0.22 or smaller), and all of them varied for CC series corresponding to the same rescuer over the course of resuscitation (ptrend<0.05). However, we observed that the metrics are not balanced, in that for any value of DC, CAI and RAI span almost their entire ranges. Conclusion: The proposed metrics correctly and completely describe manual CC waveforms, improve upon the DC, since they depend on the signal waveform, and provide additional information to current indicators of quality CPR, depth and rate. Furthermore, they allow to differentiate the compressive and recoil parts of the CC cycle, reflecting influence of the rescuer (via CAI or CII) and of the biomechanics of the patient's chest (via RAI or RII). Thus, they have the potential to contribute to better understanding CPR dynamics and, eventually, to enhanced quality of CPR practice as additional indicators of proper manual CC technique.

Mice are routinely used in snake venom research but are costly and subject to pain and suffering. The crustacean Artemia salina could be an alternative to mice, but data to support its adoption in snake venom research is limited. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the suitability of A. salina as a surrogate of mice in assessing the toxicity of venoms and the preclinical efficacy of antivenoms. The toxicity of venoms from 22 snakes of medical importance in sub-Saharan Africa was evaluated in mice (intraperitoneally; i.p. and intravenously; i.v.) and in A. salina. Subsequently, the capacity of a commercial antivenom to neutralize the toxicity of these venoms in mice and A. salina was investigated. There was a positive correlation between the i.v. median lethal doses (LD50s) and the i.p. LD50s in mice (r = 0.804; p < 0.0001), a moderate correlation between the i.v. LD50s in mice and the median lethal concentrations (LC50s) in A. salina (r = 0.606; p = 0.003), and a moderate correlation between the i.p. LD50s in mice and the LC50s in A. salina (r = 0.426; p = 0.048). Moreover, there was a strong correlation between the i.p. median effective doses (ED50s) and the i.v. ED50s in mice (r = 0.941, p < 0.0001), between the i.p. ED50s in mice and the ED50s in A. salina (r = 0.818, p < 0.0001), and between the i.v. ED50s in mice and the ED50s in A. salina (r = 0.972, p < 0.0001). These findings present A. salina as a promising candidate for reducing reliance on mice in snake venom research. Future investigations should build upon these findings, addressing potential limitations and expanding the scope of A. salina in venom research and antivenom development.

The phagocytic activity of macrophages activated with MT-II, a Lys-49 PLA2 homolog, and MT-III, an Asp-49 PLA2, from Bothrops asper snake venom, was investigated in this study using a pharmacological approach. Stimulating thioglycollate-elicited macrophages with both venom components enhanced their ability to phagocytose non-opsonized zymosan particles. MT-II and MT-III-induced phagocytosis was drastically inhibited by pretreating cells with L-NAME, aminoguanidine or L-NIL, cNOS or iNOS inhibitors, or with ODQ (sGC inhibitor) or Rp-cGMPS (PKG inhibitor). These results indicate that the NO/sGC/GMP/PKG pathway plays an essential role in the ß-glucan-mediated phagocytosis induced in macrophages by these venom-secretory PLA2s.

Leukocytes, also called White Blood Cells (WBCs) or leucocytes, are the cells that play a pivotal role in human health and are vital indicators of diseases such as malaria, leukemia, AIDS, and other viral infections. WBCs detection and classification in blood smears offers insights to pathologists, aiding diagnosis across medical conditions. Traditional techniques, including manual counting, detection, classification, and visual inspection of microscopic images by medical professionals, pose challenges due to their labor-intensive nature. However, traditional methods are time consuming and sometimes susceptible to errors. Here, we propose a high-performance convolutional neural network (CNN) coupled with a dual-attention network that efficiently detects and classifies WBCs in microscopic thick smear images. The main aim of this study was to enhance clinical hematology systems and expedite medical diagnostic processes. In the proposed technique, we utilized a deep convolutional generative adversarial network (DCGAN) to overcome the limitations imposed by limited training data and employed a dual attention mechanism to improve accuracy, efficiency, and generalization. The proposed technique achieved overall accuracy rates of 99.83%, 99.35%, and 99.60% for the peripheral blood cell (PBC), leukocyte images for segmentation and classification (LISC), and Raabin-WBC benchmark datasets, respectively. Our proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy, highlighting the effectiveness of the strategies employed and their potential to enhance diagnostic capabilities and advance real-world healthcare practices and diagnostic systems.

The fossil fish Ptychodus Agassiz, 1834, characterized by a highly distinctive grinding dentition and an estimated gigantic body size (up to around 10 m), has remained one of the most enigmatic extinct elasmobranchs (i.e. sharks, skates and rays) for nearly two centuries. This widespread Cretaceous taxon is common in Albian to Campanian deposits from almost all continents. However, specimens mostly consist of isolated teeth or more or less complete dentitions, whereas cranial and post-cranial skeletal elements are very rare. Here we describe newly discovered material from the early Late Cretaceous of Mexico, including complete articulated specimens with preserved body outline, which reveals crucial information on the anatomy and systematic position of Ptychodus. Our phylogenetic and ecomorphological analyses indicate that ptychodontids were high-speed (tachypelagic) durophagous lamniforms (mackerel sharks), which occupied a specialized predatory niche previously unknown in fossil and extant elasmobranchs. Our results support the view that lamniforms were ecomorphologically highly diverse and represented the dominant group of sharks in Cretaceous marine ecosystems. Ptychodus may have fed predominantly on nektonic hard-shelled prey items such as ammonites and sea turtles rather than on benthic invertebrates, and its extinction during the Campanian, well before the end-Cretaceous crisis, might have been related to competition with emerging blunt-toothed globidensine and prognathodontine mosasaurs.

OBJECTIVE: Cognitive reappraisal and distraction modulate pain; however, little is known about their effectiveness at different levels of pain intensity. Thus, the aim of this study has been to analyze the differential efficacy of both strategies to reduce perceived pain intensity and pain unpleasantness in low and moderate pain levels. METHOD: 3 (emotion regulation strategy: cognitive reappraisal, distraction, and control) × 2 (intensity of the painful stimuli: low and moderate intensity) × 2 (time: pretest and posttest) mixed factorial design. Ninety healthy adults were randomly assigned to one of six experimental conditions. Pain-heat stimuli were administered with an advanced thermal stimulator. All participants completed the experimental pretest and posttest phases; in each phase, 12 pain stimuli were administered. Participants received brief training on how to apply cognitive reappraisal, distraction, and the control condition for the posttest phase. Data were collected from May 2022 to November 2022. RESULTS: Analyses of repeated-measure analysis of variance showed that at posttest cognitive reappraisal and distraction were equally effective in reducing perceived pain intensity in low pain levels, while distraction was more effective than cognitive reappraisal in decreasing perceived pain intensity in moderate pain levels. Both distraction and cognitive reappraisal were effective in decreasing pain unpleasantness regardless of the intensity of the painful stimuli. CONCLUSION: These findings highlighted the beneficial use of both strategies in the short term for pain relief, distraction being more effective in moderate pain levels. This paper presents the design, implementation, and validation of an on-blade sensor system for remote vibration measurement for low-capacity wind turbines. The autonomous sensor system was deployed on three wind turbines, with one of them operating in harsh weather conditions in the far south of Chile. The system recorded the acceleration response of the blades in the flapwise and edgewise directions, data that could be used for extracting the dynamic characteristics of the blades, information useful for damage diagnosis and prognosis. The proposed sensor system demonstrated reliable data acquisition and transmission from wind turbines in remote locations, proving the ability to create a fully autonomous system capable of recording data for monitoring and evaluating the state of health of wind turbine blades for extended periods without human intervention. The data collected by the sensor system presented in this study can serve as a foundation for developing vibration-based strategies for real-time structural health monitoring.

Viperid snake venoms induce severe tissue damage, characterized by the direct toxic action of venom components, i.e., phospholipases A2 (PLA2s) and metalloproteinases (SVMPs), concomitantly with the onset of endogenous inflammatory processes, in an intricate scenario of tissue alterations. Understanding the expression of relevant genes in muscle tissue will provide valuable insights into the undergoing pathological and inflammatory processes. In this study, we have used the Nanostring technology to evaluate the patterns of gene expression in mouse skeletal muscle 1 h, 6 h, and 24 h after injection of the venoms of Bothrops asper and Daboia russelii, two medically relevant species in Latin America and Asia, respectively, with somewhat different clinical manifestations. The dose of venoms injected (30 µg) induced local pathological effects and inflammation in muscle tissue. We focused our analysis on genes related to extracellular matrix (ECM) metabolism, immune system, programmed cell death, and autophagy. The results revealed a complex pattern of expression of genes. Regarding ECM metabolism and regulation, up-regulated genes included proteinase inhibitor Serpine 1, thrombospondin 1, collagens 1A1 and 4A1 (at 1 h in the case of B. asper), TIMP1, MMP-3 (at 24 h), and lysil oxidase (LOX). In contrast, collagen chains 5A3 and 5A1 were down-regulated, especially at 6 h. Transforming growth factor ß (TGF-ß) and several genes related to myofibroblast regulation were also up-regulated, which might be related to the development of fibrosis. Several genes related to cytokine and chemokine synthesis and regulation and NFκB signaling were also up-regulated. Our observations show a variable expression of genes associated with programmed cell death and autophagy, thus revealing a hitherto unknown role of autophagy in tissue affected by snake venoms. These results provide clues to understanding the complex pattern of gene expression in tissue affected by viperid snake venoms, which likely impacts the final pathophysiology of damaged tissue in envenomings.

BACKGROUND: Progress in snakebite envenoming (SBE) therapeutics has suffered from a critical lack of data on the research and development (R&D) landscape. A database characterising this information would be a powerful tool for coordinating and accelerating SBE R&D. To address this need, we aimed to identify and categorise all active investigational candidates in development for SBE and all available or marketed products. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: In this landscape study, publicly available data and literature were reviewed to canvas the state of the SBE therapeutics market and research pipeline by identifying, characterising, and validating all investigational drug and biologic candidates with direct action on snake venom toxins, and all products available or marketed from 2015 to 2022. We identified 127 marketed products and 196 candidates in the pipeline, describing a very homogenous market of similar but geographically bespoke products and a diverse but immature pipeline, as most investigational candidates are at an early stage of development, with only eight candidates in clinical development. CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: Further investment and research is needed to address the shortfalls in products already on the market and to accelerate R&D for new therapeutics. This should be accompanied by efforts to converge on shared priorities and reshape the current SBE R&D ecosystem to ensure translation of innovation and access.

Snakebite envenoming is an important public health issue responsible for mortality and severe morbidity. Where mortality is mainly caused by venom toxins that induce cardiovascular disturbances, neurotoxicity, and acute kidney injury, morbidity is caused by toxins that directly or indirectly destroy cells and degrade the extracellular matrix. These are referred to as 'tissue-damaging toxins' and have previously been classified in various ways, most of which are based on the tissues being affected (e.g., cardiotoxins, myotoxins). This categorisation, however, is primarily phenomenological and not mechanistic. In this review, we propose an alternative way of classifying cytotoxins based on their mechanistic effects rather than using a description that is organ- or tissue-based. The mechanisms of toxin-induced tissue damage and their clinical implications are discussed. This review contributes to our understanding of fundamental biological processes associated with snakebite envenoming, which may pave the way for a knowledge-based search for novel therapeutic options.

BACKGROUND: Climate change is expected to have profound effects on the distribution of venomous snake species, including reductions in biodiversity and changes in patterns of envenomation of humans and domestic animals. We estimated the effect of future climate change on the distribution of venomous snake species and potential knock-on effects on biodiversity and public health. METHODS: We built species distribution models based on the geographical distribution of 209 medically relevant venomous snake species (WHO categories 1 and 2) and present climatic variables, and used these models to project the potential distribution of species in 2070. We incorporated different future climatic scenarios into the model, which we used to estimate the loss and gain of areas potentially suitable for each species. We also assessed which countries were likely to gain new species in the future as a result of species crossing national borders. We integrated the species distribution models with different socioeconomic scenarios to estimate which countries would become more vulnerable to snakebites in 2070. FINDINGS: Our results suggest that substantial losses of potentially suitable areas for the survival of most venomous snake species will occur by 2070. However, some species of high risk to public health could gain climatically suitable areas for habitation. Countries such as Niger, Namibia, China, Nepal, and Myanmar could potentially gain several venomous snake species from neighbouring countries. Furthermore, the combination of an increase in climatically suitable areas and socioeconomic factors (including low-income and high rural populations) means that southeast Asia and Africa (and countries including Uganda, Kenya, Bangladesh, India, and Thailand in particular) could have increased vulnerability to snakebites in the future, with potential effects on public human and veterinary health. INTERPRETATION: Loss of venomous snake biodiversity in low-income countries will affect ecosystem functioning and result in the loss of valuable genetic resources. Additionally, climate change will create new challenges to public health in several low-income countries, particularly in southeast Asia and Africa. The international community needs to increase its efforts to counter the effects of climate change in the coming decades. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to comprehend the impact of handball practice on sub-elite athletes by investigating transcriptomic changes that occur during a match. The primary focus encompasses a dual objective: firstly, to identify and characterize these transcriptomic alterations, and secondly, to establish correlations between internal factors (gene expression), and external loads measured through Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems (EPTS variables). Ultimately, this comprehensive analysis seeks to evaluate both acute and chronic responses to exercise within the context of handball training. METHODS: The study included sixteen elite male athletes from the FC Barcelona handball second team. Blood samples were extracted at three different time points: before the match at baseline levels (T1), immediately upon completion (T2), and 24 hours after completion (T3). Differential gene expression, Gene Ontology Term and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analyses were conducted in two comparisons: Comparison 1 (T1 vs T2) and Comparison 2 (T1 vs T3). Further, the correlation between gene expression levels and training variables (external load) was conducted. RESULTS: In T1 vs T2, 3717 of the 14632 genes detected were differentially expressed (adjusted p-value < 0.05), and enrichment of terms related to the immune system, mitochondria, and metabolic processes was found. Further, significant linear correlations were obtained between High-Speed running (HSR) and high-intensity variables such as acceleration ACC and deceleration DEC values with amino acids, and inflammatory and oxidative environment-related pathways, both in chronic and acute response. CONCLUSIONS: This research highlights the effects of external workload on elite athletes during a handball match and throughout the season. The study identifies deregulation in the immune system, mitochondrial functions, and various metabolic pathways during the match. Additionally, it establishes correlations between the external load and pathways associated with amino acids, inflammation, oxidative environment, and regulation. These findings offer insights into the immediate and chronic responses of athletes to physical effort.

As injectable therapeutics, snake antivenoms must meet specifications for endotoxin content. The Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) test was used to evaluate the endotoxin content in several commercially available antivenoms released for clinical use. It was found that some products have endotoxin concentrations higher than the accepted limit for these contaminants. These results emphasize the need to include endotoxin determination as part of the routine evaluation of antivenoms by manufacturers and regulatory agencies.

Background: The size/magnitude of cognitive changes after incident heart failure (HF) are unclear. We assessed whether incident HF is associated with changes in cognitive function after accounting for pre-HF cognitive trajectories and known determinants of cognition. Methods: This pooled cohort study included adults without HF, stroke, or dementia from six US population-based cohort studies from 1971-2019: Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study, Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults Study, Cardiovascular Health Study, Framingham Offspring Study, Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, and Northern Manhattan Study. Linear mixed-effects models estimated changes in cognition at the time of HF (change in the intercept) and the rate of cognitive change over the years after HF (change in the slope), controlling for pre-HF cognitive trajectories and participant factors. Change in global cognition was the primary outcome. Change in executive function and memory were secondary outcomes. Cognitive outcomes were standardized to a t-score metric (mean [SD], 50 [10]); a 1-point difference represented a 0.1-SD difference in cognition. Results: The study included 29,614 adults (mean [SD] age was 61.1 [10.5] years, 55% female, 70.3% White, 22.2% Black 7.5% Hispanic). During a median follow-up of 6.6 (Q1-Q3: 5-19.8) years, 1,407 (4.7%) adults developed incident HF. Incident HF was associated with an acute decrease in global cognition (-1.08 points; 95% CI -1.36, -0.80) and executive function (-0.65 points; 95% CI -0.96, -0.34) but not memory (-0.51 points; 95% CI -1.37, 0.35) at the time of the event. Greater acute decreases in global cognition after HF were seen in those with older age, female sex and White race. Individuals with incident HF, compared to HF-free individuals, demonstrated faster declines in global cognition (-0.15 points per year; 95% CI, -0.21, -0.09) and executive function (-0.16 points per year; 95% CI -0.23, -0.09) but not memory ( -0.11 points per year; 95% CI -0.26, 0.04) compared with pre-HF slopes. Conclusions: In this pooled cohort study, incident HF was associated with an acute decrease in global cognition and executive function at the time of the event and faster declines in global cognition and executive function over the following years.

INTRODUCTION: We tested the association of brain artery diameters with dementia and stroke risk in three distinct population-based studies using conventional T2-weighted brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images. METHODS: We included 8420 adults > 40 years old from three longitudinal population-based studies with brain MRI scans. We estimated and meta-analyzed the hazard ratios (HRs) of the brain and carotids and basilar diameters associated with dementia and stroke. RESULT: Overall and carotid artery diameters > 95th percentile increased the risk for dementia by 1.74 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.13-2.68) and 1.48 (95% CI, 1.12-1.96) fold, respectively. For stroke, meta-analyses yielded HRs of 1.59 (95% CI, 1.04-2.42) for overall arteries and 2.11 (95% CI, 1.45-3.08) for basilar artery diameters > 95th percentile. DISCUSSION: Individuals with dilated brain arteries are at higher risk for dementia and stroke, across distinct populations. Our findings underline the potential value of T2-weighted brain MRI-based brain diameter assessment in estimating the risk of dementia and stroke.

Introducción: Las enfermedades neurodegenerativas han ido en aumento durante las últimas décadas, siendo la demencia la principal patología con mayor repercusión a nivel global. Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto neuroprotector del zumo del fruto Solanum quitoense (lulo) frente a la toxicidad del cloruro de mercurio (II) en los ratones. Materiales y métodos: Diseño experimental, con grupo control y posprueba. Se empleó 42 ratones machos. Para inducir a la toxicidad se empleó una solución de HgCl2 (10 mg/kg), vía orogástrica, por un periodo de siete días. Durante ese periodo recibieron los siguientes tratamientos: grupos I y II suero fisiológico; grupos III vitamina E (40UI/kg); grupo IV-V-VI zumo de lulo, 0,5; 2,0 y 8,0 mL/kg, respectivamente. Terminado el tratamiento los animales fueron sacrificados por decapitación, el cerebro y cerebelo fueron extraído de la cavidad craneana. El hemisferio izquierdo fue homogenizado para la determinación de la lipoperoxidación, glutatión (reducido y total), actividad de superóxido dismutasa y catalasa. El hemisferio derecho y cerebelo fueron conservados, para la evaluación histológica. Se evaluó la función cognitiva (aprendizaje y memoria), según protocolo de Deacon y Rawlis. Resultados: La administración del zumo de lulo disminuyeron los índices de cerebro en los grupos V-VI. La lipoperoxidación disminuyó (grupos IV-VI), la relación GSH/GSSG aumentaron (grupos V-VI). La actividad de la catalasa aumentó (grupos IV-VI). La relación SOD/CAT disminuyeron (grupos IV-VI). El tiempo de latencia y número de intentos fueron menores en los grupos IV-VI. Conclusiones: La administración del zumo del fruto Solanum quitoense presenta efecto neuroprotector para el modelo estudiado. Introduction: Neurodegenerative diseases have beenincreasing in recent decades, with dementia being the mainpathology with the greatest impact globally. Objective: To evaluate the neuroprotective effect ofSolanum quitoense (lulo) fruit juice against the toxicity ofmercury (II) chloride in mice. Materials and methods: Experimental design, withcontrol group and post-test. 42 male mice were used. Toinduce toxicity, a solution of HgCl2 (10 mg/kg) was used viathe orogastric route for a period of seven days. During thisperiod, they received the following treatments: groups I and II physiological saline; groups III vitamin E (40IU/kg); groupIV-V-VI lulo juice, 0.5; 2.0 and 8.0 mL/kg, respectively. Oncethe treatment was completed, the animals were sacrificed bydecapitation, the brain and cerebellum were removed fromthe cranial cavity. The left hemisphere was homogenized forthe determination of lipoperoxidation, glutathione (reducedand total), superoxide dismutase and catalase activity. Theright hemisphere and cerebellum were preserved forhistological evaluation. Cognitive function (learning andmemory) was evaluated according to the Deacon and Rawlisprotocol. Results: The administration of lulo juice decreased brainindices in groups V-VI. Lipoperoxidation decreased (groupsIV-VI), the GSH/GSSG ratio increased (groups V-VI). Catalaseactivity increased (groups IV-VI). The SOD/CAT ratiodecreased (groups IV-VI). The latency time and number ofattempts were lower in groups IV-VI. Conclusions: The administration of Solanum quitoensefruit juice has a neuroprotective effect for the model studied.(AU)

Over the past two decades, cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) due to syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia have been rising in the United States, disproportionately among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM), as well as racial and ethnic minorities of all genders. In this review, we address updates about the evidence on doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) for prevention of bacterial STIs, including efficacy, safety, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), acceptability, modeling population impact, and evolving guidelines for use. Equitable implementation of doxy-PEP will require evaluation of who is offered and initiates it, understanding patterns of use and longer-term STI incidence and AMR, provider training, and tailored community education.

OBJECTIVES: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) has been the most common method used for the preoperative cytopathological diagnosis of solid tumors of the pancreas. There are only a few reported cases about the role of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) in the pre-operative diagnosis of solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPN). This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic yield of EUS-TA,including endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) andEUS-FNB, in patients with SPN. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients with EUS-TA for SPN diagnosis in 2 referral centers. The primary outcome was the diagnostic yield of EUS-TA compared to the surgical specimen. RESULTS: Seventy-four patients with SPN of the pancreas were identified. Eighteen had a EUS-TA (10 EUS-FNB and 8 EUS-FNA). The median age of the patients was 31 years (IQR 21-38), and all patients were women. The most common presenting symptom was abdominal pain. Most of the tumors were in the head of the pancreas (9/18; 50%). The median tumor size by EUS was 4.5 cm (min-max 2-15 cm). The most common appearance on EUS was a solid lesion (n = 8/18, 44.4%). A definitive presurgical cytopathological diagnosis was obtained in 16/18 patients (88.8%) with EUS-TA. The sensitivity and positive predictive value of the EUS-TA were 94% each. One patient in the EUS-FNB group developed mild acute pancreatitis. CONCLUSION: The diagnostic yield of the EUS-TA in SPN is high. In most cases, the diagnosis was obtained with the first procedure. No differences in the diagnostic yield or AEs between EUS-FNA vs. EUS-FNB needles were seen.
